In this study, we compared of myocardial oxygen uptake and blood pressure response to treadmill and bike exercise therapy in myocardial infarction patients. 41 patients participated after successful PTCA and STENT and were trained at gradually increased 40% to 85% HRpeak for 6weeks. The results are as follows; At the same exercise intensity(40%, 60%, 85% HRpeak), 1st. metabolic equivalents(METs) in treadmill was higher than in bike(p<.001). 2nd. Rate-Perceived Eexertion(RPE) was not changed significantly between treadmill and bike. 3rd. Systolic Blood Pressure(SBP) in bike was higher than in treadmill(p<.001). 4th. Diastolic Blood Pressure(DBP) in bike was higher than in treadmill(p<.001, p<.01). 5th. Myocardial Oxygen Uptake(MVO2) in bike were higher than in treadmill(p<.01). In Conclusions, because bike exercise caused higher SBP, DBP, MVO2 than treadmill exercise at the same exercise intensity, the caution needs when myocardial infarction patients exercise with bike in high intensity.
